I was terrified of looking at wedding dresses when I got engaged. As a big lady, I was sure it would be impossible.

On a bit of a whim, I rang the Astra Bridal North Shore store and Lara picked up. From then on, I had the most amazing experience. When I explained to Lara that I was only expecting to come in and discuss my options (thinking they were non-existent), and not be able to try on dresses due to my size, she immediately reassured me that this wasn't the case. She told me that once I booked an appointment, I'd be able to come in and try on dresses.

I couldn't believe it. I was going to get a full bridal experience! Lara was so kind, reassuring, and non-judgemental during that phone call. She took my name down, told me she would take care of me, and looked out for my appointment in the system.

I was able to just have fun and enjoy being a bride. The dress I ended up choosing? Lara picked it! She is amazing at knowing what will work on brides, and we had the most fun day.

I went alone the first time (which I would actually recommend to any bride), and then the second time I flew my mum to Auckland and brought a couple of other relatives. Lara made them feel at home as well, and they had so much fun with me.

Joannah also came in and assisted Lara with my measurements when I chose my dress. She was lovely as well, and I felt very comfortable with both ladies.

Thank you, Lara and Joannah, for the most incredible experience. It was so nice to be seen as a human in a dress. I didn't expect to feel beautiful, but I did, and I'm forever grateful. My fiancé commented on my big smile as I walked out!

From the moment I walked into Astra Bridal, I had such an amazing experience. The whole appointment felt relaxed, welcoming, and completely focused on helping me find my dream dress.

I loved that I was able to browse through the dresses before we started and choose the ones I wanted to try on. It made the experience feel really personal and exciting.

I had Keala as my stylist, and she was absolutely incredible. She made me feel so comfortable from the very beginning, helped me into every dress, and never made me feel rushed. Once we'd narrowed it down to my favourites, she was kind enough to let my appointment run over so I could try them on again and make sure I chose the one I truly loved.

I never felt like I was being hurried or pressured into making a decision. She genuinely wanted me to find the perfect dress.

Kryslin and the team at Astra Bridal were fantastic. One of my bridesmaids attending had her baby with her, and the staff were so accommodating in letting little Izzy be part of the process.

I loved how Kryslin showed us all the options for how we could style the pieces I was drawn to. From the wishlist I sent through, she really read my style and nailed the vibe I was going for. In the end, I think she knew the dress I was after, saved the best for last, and I found the sexiest wedding dress!

The team at Astra Bridal were very welcoming and accommodating. I had to bring my baby along to my appointment, and that was no problem at all. Kryslin was my stylist, and she was patient with me as I considered my options.

She pulled out a variety of dresses. I probably tried on about eight, and my bridesmaids were able to take photos of the different looks. Kryslin helped me narrow it down to two dresses and gave me all the information about them (pricing, timing, and alterations), as well as a few weeks to think about it.

At my follow up appointment, she helped me style my chosen dress with different veils and sleeves to find the final look I wanted.

I would recommend Astra Bridal to future brides. Whether you know what kind of dress you want already or not, the experience of being styled in different dresses will make you feel like a princess.

Can't speak highly enough of my experience at Astra! Ashley made me feel so comfortable and was very patient with all the decision making. My mum and I had a great time talking with Ashley and Ilyese about all things wedding dresses and veils. They were both so helpful in helping me come to a decision on a dress I absolutely love. I'm so looking forward to finally wearing it! <3

The team at Astra provided a top level experience both the first and second time I went in to see them. As a new bride who had never tried any dresses on before, and then again when I went in to revisit some favourites, they were so warm and welcoming! Very kind, and great at making suggestions that complemented me and made me feel stunning.

I had the BEST experience with Ilyese! She was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and made me feel completely relaxed while ensuring we had fun throughout the whole appointment.

One of my favourite moments was when I was trying on my top contender. Ilyese asked both me and my family to close our eyes while she added a bouquet and veil before the grand reveal. It was such a special touch that allowed me to truly picture the complete bridal look, and it had us all in tears!

I had such a wonderful experience at Astra Bridal North Shore and found my dream dress! Even though we hadn’t booked originally, Joannah made time for us and made me feel so welcome and looked after from the moment we arrived.

She was incredibly patient and knowledgeable, taking the time to understand what I liked and guiding me through different styles without ever making me feel rushed. It also helped that I’d saved some dresses on their website, and she was able to pull up my account and see all the ones I’d saved, which gave her a good idea of what I liked.

There were so many beautiful dresses in store, and we picked out around 10 to try on. I was then able to try on my top few dresses again, which really helped me make the decision.
