Lisa at Astra is wonderful! I was dreading wedding dress shopping as a plus size bride, and I was right to be. My experiences at some other places weren’t great (i.e., they said they were inclusive but in reality only had one or two plus-size options in store, and a very optimistic idea of what stretch clips could do). I looked high and low in multiple cities and struggled to find something that I liked and that suited me.

I visited Astra three times before finding a dress I loved, and Lisa was my consultant the second and third time. She was amazing, extremely skilled at understanding fabric and silhouette, and able to quickly grasp what I was saying in terms of style and tone. She also never once said, “hmmm, bad idea,” if I wanted to try a silhouette plus size brides don’t usually wear. She was very body neutral, which I appreciated.

Lisa was awesome, and I will rave for ages about her expertise. By the end of my second visit with her, I would have tried on a paper bag if she told me to, because no doubt she would have found just the right paper bag, and it would have looked cute as heck. I am very excited for my (non paper bag) dress to arrive.

The Most Incredible Bridal Experience

I bought my wedding dress from Astra Bridal, and I have to say, Ilyese is one of the most stunning humans I’ve ever met. Her customer care, genuine love for what she does, and humble yet incredible eye for design are absolutely unmatched. She made me feel supported, celebrated, and completely understood throughout the entire process.

The dresses? Unreal. The customer care? On another level. The pricing? So reasonable for the quality and experience. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with mimosas, warmth, and the most beautiful, personalised service. The whole shop has such a special vibe, and you can tell everyone truly cares. They even offer front-of-line employee appointments at a discount.

I cannot recommend Ilyese and Astra Bridal as a whole enough. She made choosing my wedding dress one of the happiest, easiest, and most memorable parts of wedding planning. <3

Amazing experience with Astra Bridal. Rochelle was extremely helpful, super welcoming, and kind. She was attentive to everything I needed, well-informed, and overall made it a great appointment. I have purchased my dress with them, and they have been efficient with emails and any questions I’ve had.

It's been a couple of weeks since saying YES to the dress, and I still can't stop raving about my experience with the Astra team, specifically Ilyese!!! She was so amazing that instead of purchasing the dress I had originally picked from their site, I ended up going with a dress Ilyese had picked out for me. I took my mum and aunt with me, and they could not stop smiling at the dress she picked out.

A Truly Beautiful Experience at Astra Bridal Wellington! (5 Stars)

As soon as I walked into Astra Bridal Wellington’s beautiful salon, I knew I would find my dress. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and elegant. Their collection is absolutely stunning, with a huge range of designers and styles to choose from, including their own line, which allows for customisations and makes finding your dress a genuinely exciting process.

I especially appreciated the vast range of sample sizes available, which ensured I could try on gowns that actually fit as intended. My stylist Lisa was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and had an amazing eye for what would suit me, even suggesting the dress I eventually fell in love with.

The communication throughout the entire process was easy and professional. If you are a bride-to-be in New Zealand looking for a memorable, stress-free shopping experience, Astra Bridal in Wellington is the place to go.

As a plus-size bride, wedding dress shopping has always felt very intimidating, but at Astra Bridal I felt instantly at ease. My stylist, Kryslin, had dresses from my wishlist ready to go, and the layout of the store made it really easy to find gowns in my size and see the full range available for me to try on. I felt so comfortable with Kryslin, who was so supportive and accommodating with areas I usually feel self-conscious about (like my upper arms), and she made the process so easy and fun, from getting into the dress to laughing about the glitter trail I was leaving behind in one of the ones I tried on.

I left absolutely OVER THE MOON with my dress. I highly recommend all busty, plus-size girlies check out the curve styles at AB. The built in support structure has me feeling more secure than any bra I’ve ever owned, and it passed the shimmy test with flying colours.

I had the most phenomenal experience with Lara and the Astra Bridal team. After a previous appointment with another boutique, I felt deflated and like I hadn’t been guided or supported in choosing a dress. With Lara, it was the complete opposite experience. She is so knowledgeable, takes the time to understand what you really want, and is honest and caring throughout the whole experience.
