Mesmerising Farm Wedding in South Africa

On a lovely late spring day, Carmen and Wayne vowed to spend the rest of their loves together in front of their loved ones at The Glades Farm. Photos of the day show the couple being surrounded by love, happiness and the picturesque grounds of their venue.

Carmen captivated in Marrakesh by Forget Me Knot, a simplistic yet stunning fit and flare gown. The draping on the scoop neck bodice is an absolute dream and the buttons trailing down the back of the gown is such a classic touch. She paired her gown with our diamante pearl earrings and two tier cut edge veil.

What was it that made this particular wedding dress catch your eye and fall in love?

I loved my gown the moment I put it on. It was comfortable, suited my body shape, and the quality of the dress is beautiful. I liked that it was simple and classic. I had so many compliments on my gown.

Tell us about your search for the dress and the experience at Astra Bridal.

The search for my dress was really special and a surprise. It’s hard living away from family, so for me to plan my wedding from New Zealand and look for dresses by myself was really challenging. Wayne’s cousin and aunt from Auckland had secretly organised a day at Astra Bridal. They had also planned for my sister, my mum and my mother in law to Skype in while I was trying on dresses. I was instantly brought to tears as all I wanted was for them to be with me and this made it extra special when I found my dress.

Tell us your story, how you both met, and the proposal.

Wayne and I met in 2012 at a friend's 21st, and have been inseparable ever since. We moved to New Zealand in 2018 when Wayne was offered a job. We had never been to New Zealand and never travelled before. Wayne and I had worked really hard. We paid for our own studies and life slowly improved, but we still struggled in South Africa. It was like New Zealand was meant to be for us. Wayne finally popped the question at Cathedral Cove on February 2022.

What was your favourite part of the day?

My favourite part was spending time and sharing our day with our family and friends. Family is so important to us, and we had all our close friends and family, which we hadn’t seen for 5 years. Such a blessing and a happy day.

Tell us about your wedding day as a whole.

It was beautiful. The weather was perfect and day went smoothly. I think after being away from family and friends, you value that time with the people you care about even more.

Finally, what is your biggest piece of advice for brides to be?

Plan your wedding to be simple and be organised. Shop around and have fun. I think the best advice I can give is to stop, take a deep breath, and take it all in just before you walk down the aisle. Enjoy your day and let everything flow.
