Stunning Auckland Wedding

Sharolyn and Callum said "I Do" on a sunny summer day in front of their loved ones at the stunning Markovina Vineyard Estate. Their day was filled with much joy, happiness and love. The lovely couple also had an Indian ceremony, but our blog will only feature their western wedding.

Sharolyn wore Te Anau by Forget Me Knot, a dramatic and romantic ball gown with a floral and leafy vine lace motif decorating the bodice. The lace motif trickles down into the skirt and adds to the charm of this gown, while the sequins decorating the lace adds a touch of shimmer. She completed her look with our bead and crystal edged veil, and pearl clips.

We hope you enjoy seeing their photos and reading about their wedding day just as much as we did! Congratulations to them both x

What was it that made this particular wedding dress catch your eye and fall in love?

The gown I ended up choosing was Te Anau by Forget Me Knot. The dress had just come in store and was not even up on the site. I loved the simplicity of the dress as it had lace on the top half and layers from the waist down. It was everything I was looking for - a simple dress but also a dress that many don't generally choose for a wedding.

Tell us about your search for the dress and the experience at Astra Bridal.

Astra bridal was the first shop I went to. I didn't know what I wanted, but my stylist knew exactly what to pick out for me. I think this was the 3rd dress I tried on.

Tell us your story, how you both met, and the proposal.

Callum and I met at University in 2016. Callum spent the next 6 months trying to impress me and officially ask me to be his girlfriend. After 5 1/2 years of being together, Callum proposed at a beautiful viewpoint in Cockle bay where we had our first date. This was a random spot as the original spot he had organised was under construction on the day. I had an idea that he was going to propose because just 3 days before, both dads could not contain their excitement and gave away A LOT of hints.

What was your favourite part of the day?

Seeing all our families come together as one and dance with each other on the dance floor. Even the people who hated dancing and crowds were on the dance floor.

Tell us about your wedding day as a whole.

The weather during that month was HORRIBLE. There was so much rain, but fortunately for us, the sun was out for our wedding day. The girls came over early in the morning, and we had a grazing table and alcohol to get us through the getting ready period.

We wanted our wedding to be very personalised and family orientated, so my cousin married us and my auntie did my hair and makeup. We had our family do small tasks to make them a part of our big day.

We had organised our wedding within 7 weeks and got married. My husband's grandparents were flying over from the UK and my grandmother was not as healthy, so we wanted to get married while our grandparents were still with us.

Finally, what is your biggest piece of advice for brides to be?

Due to the fact we only had 7 weeks before the main wedding, it was meant to be very stressful. But planning this wedding was stress-free. I had the most supporting husband that helped with all decision-making. This was so much harder as we had 2 cultural weddings.

We followed our hearts and knew "everything happens for a reason". So when things did not go to plan, I didn't panic. I just found an alternative solution. So my advice would be just hold on tight and things will fall into place.
