What was it that made this particular wedding dress catch your eye and fall in love?
Kay
Astra Bridal was my third appointment of the day, and by that point, everything was starting to blur together, looking like just another white dress. My mum actually picked my gown for me to try on, and I immediately fell in love with it. The floral detailing running all the way down the train was what really captured my heart. It felt romantic, timeless, and completely me.
Ellie
I was in two minds about whether to choose a dress or a suit, so I didn’t expect to find the dress at the first appointment, but I did! I loved how it showed off my figure and made me feel beautiful. It felt strong, confident, and powerful, which is exactly how I wanted to feel on our wedding day.
Tell us about your search for the dress and the experience at Astra Bridal.
We had such a great experience with Astra Bridal. The staff were incredibly friendly and made the whole process feel easy and relaxed, aside from the hard part of actually choosing the dress! Ellie is a healthcare worker, so it was also really special to receive a discount on her appointment, which we were so grateful for.
Tell us your story, how you both met, and the proposal.
We first met in high school and ended up becoming high school sweethearts. We’ve truly grown up together. Ellie proposed while we were on a trip to Singapore, which made it even more special. After I said yes, we celebrated with a beautiful night out in Chinatown, which was such a perfect, unforgettable way to mark the moment.
What was your favourite part of the day?
The ceremony was definitely the highlight (although the glass of bubbles straight after was a very close second!). In that moment, it honestly felt like the whole world fell away and it was just the two of us. Everything else disappeared, and it was incredibly special, something we’ll never forget.
Tell us about your wedding day as a whole.
We were incredibly lucky and had the most beautiful day weather-wise. We both got ready in our respective family homes, which made the morning feel really meaningful and grounded. Our brothers drove us to the venue, which was such a special touch.
We chose to do a first look before the ceremony, and it was absolutely worth it, as it gave us a quiet moment together before everything began. Our ceremony was held outdoors in a forest setting, which felt magical and perfectly suited to us. We followed it with a cocktail-style reception filled with amazing food, drinks, and lots of dancing.
Finally, what is your biggest piece of advice for brides to be?
Plan the day that you and your partner want. Don’t let anyone talk you out of doing something that feels right to you. The day is about the two of you and your love. Make decisions that reflect that.
