Karla wore the Aleida by Theia Couture - a supple crepe gown with apron neckline and sheath silhouette. She found her dress with us through our 'At Home Appointment', when levels and lockdowns were happening left, right and centre. It all came together beautifully and we loved that she paired her dress with our scattered pearl veil (1-901-CT-DP), perfect for that extra touch!
Her and Dean got married on a stunning May day this year and we're so excited to share some of their photos from their wedding day!
What was it that made this particular wedding dress catch your eye and fall in love?
I was looking for a dress which was classic, timeless and simple. I wanted something that was fitted also and I loved the idea of pearl buttons. When I first saw the Aleida Dress, what caught my eye was the beautiful cut of the dress. I loved the fitted style, with a high neckline and low back. The pearls on the back were also beautiful and matched the theme of my veil. When I tried the dress on in my size, I didn't need to look at or try on anything else, it was the perfect dress for me.
Tell us about your search for the dress and the experience at Astra Bridal.
My search was maybe a bit different to normal. When I first started looking for dresses we were in level 3, meaning I couldn't actually go in to stores and look. My sister in law had a beautiful wedding dress from Astra Bridal so I thought that would be a good place to start. I reached out and had a phone consultation as a first step.
After explaining my style and a few dresses I liked, Astra Bridal shipped me 3 dresses to try on at home and we had a virtual consult. One of those dresses was Aleida. I really loved the dress but definitely needed a different size. The first weekend out of level 3, the staff at Astra Bridal booked me in for an instore visit. I had a few different dresses to try on as options, as well as a different size in the Aleida dress. As soon as I put it on I knew it was exactly what I was looking for.
Tell us your story, how you both met, and the proposal.
Dean and I met while I was working at a friend's gym to help out. I was a trainer and Dean was a member. We definitely noticed each other and I'm fairly certain there was some mild flirting. I stopped helping out at the gym, following Covid Lockdown. Since I was no longer a trainer, Dean asked me out for a coffee, and we have been together ever since.
What was your favourite part of the day?
My favourite part of the day, was walking down the aisle and seeing Dean for the first time that day.
Tell us about your wedding day as a whole.
Our wedding day felt like the most perfect celebration of our love and relationship. We were surrounded by friends and family, the weather was absolutely beautiful and Dean and I spent the whole day celebrating each other and our marriage.
It was everything we had wanted our wedding to be.
Finally, what is your biggest piece of advice for brides to be?
My biggest piece of advice for brides is to be true to your
own style and taste when looking for your dress. Look for something that makes
YOU feel beautiful and confident on your special day.
