Trista and Kieran said "I Do" on a lovely late winter day by the Tauranga waterfront. Surrounded by their friends and family, they aimed for a relaxed and chill day, with a fantastic party after.
Trista always imagined her wedding dress to have some beautiful sparkle. Our Frances dress by Forget Me Knot stole her heart but that extra magic sparkle was missing, so our Hamilton team customised the dress by adding sequins on the lace throughout the dress. It turned out beautiful! She also opted for our scattered crystal veil - Hailey - which made for some stunning photos in the breeze.

What was it that made this particular wedding dress catch your eye and fall in love?
I knew in my head exactly what I wanted (tight, lace and some sparkle). Khym was amazing at listening and showing me dresses from what I had described. In the end it came down to my dress and one at another store. Khym was so obliging and willing to do whatever I wanted to my dress (for example adding more sparkle), so that definitely helped me with my final choice.
Tell us about your search for the dress and the experience at Astra Bridal.
Originally I went to Astra Bridal as the website was so inviting and there were so many different options to choose from. Khym made sure it was a very happy experience and it was not stressful at all (it could have been since I only had 4 months to sort my dress).
Tell us your story, how you both met, and the proposal.
We met in Hamilton the day before Kieran moved to Tauranga. After numerous Hamilton lockdowns and endless commutes across the Kaimais and doing long distance for just over a year, I escaped the Waikato to join him in the bay.
Kieran organised a trip to Rotorua with friends for his birthday, where he proposed at the top of the Redwood forest tree walk. I was quite concerned that he was going to drop the ring and we were at the highest point! We managed to plan our wedding in 5 months.
What was your favourite part of the day?
So many favourites! I really enjoyed the first look. It was very special being able to see each other alone and have a moment together. I also liked doing the photos first...That meant we were free to mix and mingle with our guests after the ceremony. Of course we had an awesome party after!
Tell us about your wedding day as a whole.
We got ready at Trinity Wharf, with
rooms next to each other. This let the photographer go between the two
rooms. We really wanted our ceremony to be outside and we were very lucky
with the weather! We thought it was going to rain as my car pulled up... but
there were a few drops and then the rain disappeared. We wanted the day
to be relaxed and chill which is exactly what it was. Lots of fun and
laughter and such a good time! We had a fantastic reception with a great band
and an awesome party!
Finally, what is your biggest piece of advice for brides to be?
Don't stress the small stuff. As
long as you are there with your husband to be, and happy, it doesn't matter if
something little is missing. Also, stay true to yourself and your style. You
can often feel overwhelmed with others wanting to give their advice... Just do
what makes you feel comfortable and happy. In the end it is you and your
husband's day, no one else's!
